THOUGHT LEADERS AND INFLUENTIALS
"Every generation...stands upon the shoulders of those who have gone before." Owen Chamberlain
One of the most exciting aspects of the doctoral journey has been the opportunity to network and connect with leaders and upcoming leaders in the field. The statement: "I am a doctoral candidate in Ed Tech" has been a valuable calling card and introduction as I reach out into the field to learn from others. The individuals below are among the influentials whom I have had the honor to meet and whose posts I follow on a regular basis. My goal is to continue to cultivate these and many more connections throughout my career as an Educational Technology Leader.
Dr. Sue Henderson, President, NJCU
I was honored to have the opportunity to chat with Dr. Henderson at reception she hosted.
I am thrilled to attend a University that has a woman as its leader. Dr. Henderson is a model of accessible and transformational leadership. I look forward to future occasions when we might interact as my degree progresses.
Thought leader in social learning & communities of practice, Dr. Wenger-Trayner is also a noted author. His concept of situated learning has been a vibrant topic of discussion among my colleagues at NJCU.
Dr. Michio Kaku
I had the opportunity to discuss physics with the renowned Dr. Kaku at the NJCU event on December 9.
Dr. Holly Ludgate, Sr. Director, NMC
Dr. Ludgate was the Director of the Education Media Design & Technology MS that I completed at Full Sail University. She served as Senior Director of Program Development for NMC. Currently, she is the Director of Curriculum at Full Sail Labs & DC3 Education
Dr. Jason Ohler, Author & Lecturer
Dr. Ohler's is a prolific writer and teacher on topics related to Digital Literacy. His book on Digital Storytelling was a highlight in my MS studies. I look forward to every opportunity to learn from this Ed Tech thought leader.
Sylvia Martinez, Author & Role Model
Ms. Martinez co-authored Invent To Learn: Making, Tinkering, and Engineering in the Classroom with Dr. Stager. In addition to her leadership in the Maker Education arena, she has been a very generous guide for a newcomer to this field.
Dr. Gary Stager, Author & Lecturer
Co-author of Invent to Learn, Dr. Stager has provided me with an address for the difficult questions that arise out of my Maker Education investigations. Dr. Stager is the organizer of Constructing Modern Knowledge, a week-long experience in Maker education for teachers.
Yonatan Natan and Yoav Cornfeld
Yonatan and Yoav work at the Fab-Lab in Madatech - Israel's National Technology, Science and Space Museum. We met at the Jerusalem Mini Maker Faire 2015. Yonatan is the Director of Education for the Fab Lab and we are working on making a connection with the UAMaker Academy.
